The Porsche of Bikes. Really. The Porsche Bike S and Bike SR hit the market.

The news that Porsche was going to be releasing bikes designed with Rennsport broke in early July of this year. The high-end bicycles have finally come to market and with a Porsche-like price as well. The two new Porsche Design bikes consist of the aluminum frame Porsche Bike S and the carbon fiber frame Porsche Bike RS.

The Porsche Bike RS
weighs 9 kg, with a monocoque construction high-end carbon frame, 29” Crank Brothers wheels, Magura hydraulic disc brakes and a 20 gear Shimano XTR derailleur with optimized graduation:

Porsche Bike RS retails for $8,538

The Porsche Bike S
weighs 12kg with a hydroformed aluminum frame, 29" high-quality and puncture protection wet grip wheels, Magura hydraulic disc brakes and a maintenance-free toothed belt drive:

Porsche Bike S retails for $4,775

The Specialized McLaren Venge, Fastest Complete Performance Bike In The World.

The new S-Works + McLaren Venge is the result of a partnership between Specialized and McLaren that brings the advanced materials and carbon layup design that McLaren has employed in their F1-winning race cars into the world of racing bikes.

The first carbon road race bike from Specialized with an aerodynamic design, the S-Works Venge was the brainchild of Chris D'Aluisio and the Specialized engineering team. This design was then refined further through the McLaren partnership.

In working with McLaren engineers, the S-Works+McLaren Venge maintained identical aerodynamics and stiffness, yet achieved an even lighter weight through its extremely advanced carbon layup design.
After over four years of development, testing and over twenty trips to various wind tunnels, the S-Works Venge is the first Specialized bike to achieve the winning formula of weight, stiffness and aerodynamics.

details:

Available Venge Models:

S-Works Venge DA, $9200
With its no-compromise formula of ultralight weight, exceptional stiffness, and stealthy aerodynamics, the Venge created an entirely new road category: Complete Performance. Throw in Pro Tour-proven Shimano Dura-Ace components, and this bike will elevate you—and Team HTC-Highroad—to a whole new level:

S-Works Venge SRAM RED, $8800
With its no-compromise formula of ultralight weight, exceptional stiffness, and stealthy aerodynamics, the Venge created an entirely new road category: Complete Performance. Luxury Racing Bikes Exquisitely Crafted of Mahogany Wood By Sueshiro Sano.

Exquisite craftsmanship and attention to detail make this wooden bike the finest about which I have written. While it's true I introduced you to Woody Bicycles and the first FSC- certified wooden bicycle, the elegance and proportions of Sanomagic's wooden bikes are in a class by themselves.

A ninth generation ship builder, Sueshiro Sano, shown above with his Mahogany Bike T2, has created a lightweight high performance luxury bike using layering techniques employed in shipbuilding to make the wood stronger and more durable.

Sano made his first Mahogany bicycle in January of 2008. Since then he has completed ten and is working on the eleventh in which he is introducing Mahogany deep polished rims.

Every element on the bike, other than the gears and brakes, is handcrafted of mahogany wood. A curved wooden frame, wooden spacers, wooden handlebars, a wooden saddle, wooden kickstand and wooden seat. Even the the wheels, the drink holder and the little cap on the tire valves is wood as well.

Sano claims the bike outperforms aluminum models and even some of the most cutting edge carbon fiber models. Like Carbon fiber, wood is a fiber which has holes inside for water which contain air. So, when the wood gets a shock, it expels the air much like a sneaker sole. This absorbs the majority of the shock and provides a seamlessly smooth ride.

Despite the fact that many people see his bikes as a 'design project', Sano considers safety and functionality first.
