Newd Adhesive Jewelry for the Body from Italy's Alessandro Masini.

Since I first introduced you to Italian brand NEWD in this post almost three years ago , the collection of safe self-adhesive jewelry has grown. With more more pieces and styles added to their five collections (and some no longer available), it was time to update my readers.

Newd was established in Florence in 2006 by Alessandro Masini. It’s the only company in the world that produces 'Skin Jewels'; adhesive jewelry that is applied directly to the skin. Glamour, innovation, sensuality, femininity, creativity and individuality come together for an exciting and trendy product that really goes beyond all standards.

For those of you who don't wish to permanently pierce or tattoo yourself , NEWD is a fun alternative for body ornamentation. They carry simple geometric shapes in various sizes, the requisite trendy shapes such as butterflies and hearts, and some bolder and more unusual pieces. White, rose, and yellow gold, polished or satin finished, gold-plated, enameled, embellished with pearls, Swarovksi crystals, precious stones and more can be applied on your back, neckline, arms, belly or wherever you deem desirable.

They have five collections of different shapes, styles and metals. Some are just simple silhouettes, some are adorned with Swarovski crystals and others with dangling gems. Here are just a few:

Once only available in Italy, you can purchase directly from NEWD here.

Unearthly Commitment: Space Wedding Rings Made of Gold That Went To Space.

50 sets of rings known as SWR-50th Anniversary Collection were inspired by the 50th anniversary of first human space flight which took place on April 12, 1961. The collection will be created in cooperation with jewelry designers from all over the world.

On May 20, 7:24 (MDT) the first set of space wedding rings were sent in space in a suborbital sounding rocket in New Mexico, USA. The flight went smoothly and the professionally secured package containing one set of wedding rings and some gold reached the space and came to Earth sound and safe.

The first 10 sets of rings available now will be made from the gold that was flown in space in the same capsule as the first Space Wedding Rings SWR-001.

Each set of Space Wedding Rings will be assigned a unique serial number and engraved with the SpaceWed logo. The rings will be sold in custom designed, space-themed packaging and will include a Certificate of Space Flight, as well as documentation of the rocket launch.

From the beginning of June you will be able to place an ORDER for the RINGS AVAILABLE NOW or PRE-ORDER the rings which will go in space in the next flight by the end of 2011.

Home Decor For The Body - Mary Katrantzou Spring 2011 Collection

Athens born designer Mary Katrantzou, whose first collection I previously shared with you here has 'decorated' the female form with her stunning Spring 2011 RTW collection [ all the pieces of which are shown later in the post]. Caning as ruffles, lampshade-like skirts, trains reminiscent of curtains, candelabras as jewelry and textiles printed with photos from '60s and '70s issues of Architectural Digest have turned her fashions into wearable home decor.

Incredible detailing using dangling crystals, beading, sequins, pleating, tapestry and embroidery adorn her dresses, skirts and jackets. Materials like raffia, fringe and chair caning become integral design and decorative elements in the line.

The handiwork is breathtaking and the strong graphic prints are surprising flattering to the female form.

The Mary Kantrantzou Spring 2011 Ready To Wear collection:

The Jewelery
The jewelry is amazing. She designs it herself and the necklaces are made to emulate candelabras and chandeliers. The bent and twisted candle holders and chunky crystals on collars are art pieces in themselves but perfectly compliment the unusual dresses.

The Shoes
The shoes are like espadrilles on steroids, Combining braided raffia with colored suede, they are simultaneously summery and sophisticated.
